Motivational interviewing
Proven effective communication style that can be used anywhere behavior change is desired
More detailed information
When people want to change but don't, there is often a conflict of interests. Their current behavior also has benefits for them, which complicates behavioral change. This creates a difficult situation: they are constantly in conflict with themselves and their emotions regarding the desired change.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a conversational style that removes these contradictions. The beauty of this approach is that the person takes control of their own change process. As a result, the change becomes entirely intrinsic, which minimizes relapse.
In this workshop, you will learn among other things:
How to help others find sustainable intrinsic motivation within themselves.
What you should especially NOT do if you want to motivate others (and what actually works).
What basic attitude you need to effectively motivate someone.
How to convey information so that the other person truly listens to you.
How to turn resistance into motivation.
