Plastic pollution is not an environmental problem, but a systems problem. Real change requires leadership, courage, and choices that go beyond good intentions.

In 2014, Merijn Tinga built a surfboard from plastic washed ashore and surfed along the Dutch coastline. That action made one thing clear: awareness alone is not enough to create real change.

Since then, Merijn has focused on where impact truly happens - with companies, policymakers, and decision-making processes. His expeditions and campaigns have contributed to political resolutions, product bans, and the introduction of deposit return systems.

In his talks, anecdotes and firsthand experiences from his adventures and expeditions form the common thread. Through these real-world stories, Merijn connects activism with leadership and strategy - exploring how to deal with resistance, take responsibility in complex systems, and how organizations can create societal impact without ignoring their operational realities. Inspiring, sharp, and immediately applicable.
