Why Innovation Fails

Kodak invented the digital camera. Why can't your organisation see its own breakthrough?
More detailed information
Everyone uses Kodak to explain why companies miss disruption. This keynote shows why that explanation is incomplete. Joachim De Vos revisits the story from the inside, with insights from Steven Sasson, the man who invented the digital camera at Kodak.
From this come seven keys that determine whether innovation lands or stalls in an organisation. They are drawn from his book Why Innovation Fails, shortlisted among the top 5 Dutch-language management books of 2023.
Participants see where their own organisation stands, using the 6 Levels of Innovation™ model: innovation maturity across twelve dimensions, from deficient to outstanding.

He serves on the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council.
Every keynote draws on a book, a methodology or his own research and is tailored to the people in the room. To support this, he has developed his own toolkit, including the 6 Levels of Innovation™ model, the Data-Golf Scan™, the Black Box Canvas™ and the ImQ Test™. He combines these with established methods such as scenario planning and the Three Horizons model. His audiences leave with more than inspiration: they leave with tools to make decisions.
