Hands-On Agent Workshop: Build, Guardrail, and Scale to Swarms

From prompting to orchestrating autonomous systems

More detailed information

Most leaders have seen what a Large Language Model can do: write, summarize, brainstorm, answer. Useful, yes, but still passive. The real paradigm shift starts when AI stops responding and begins acting, reliably, with intent, memory, tools, and coordination.

This workshop is a hands-on, executive-friendly immersion into that shift. In a guided, step-by-step build, participants experience the evolution from a “bare” conversational model into a fully orchestrated multi-agent system, a swarm of specialized agents that collaborate to deliver end-to-end outcomes. No technical background is required. Everything is done through clear language, practical prompts, and simple configuration choices. The same levers your organization will have to use in real deployments.

This is not a lecture about AI. It’s an applied learning lab that creates a real, almost visceral understanding of what AI Agents are, how they behave, and why “prompting” is quickly becoming “orchestrating”.

Why?

Because the strategic question has changed. It’s no longer “What can AI generate?” It’s “What can we delegate?”, and under which guardrails, accountability, and risk controls.

How?

By moving through five progressive capability levels, each one adding a single, concrete power to the system. Participants don’t just hear the concept, they configure it, test it, break it, and refine it, like a leadership simulation for the Agent-First Era.

What you’ll build and experience?

A structured journey from basic instruction to coordinated autonomy:

  • Level 1, The Bare Agent: how identity, boundaries, and instructions shape behavior (and how quickly ambiguity becomes risk).

  • Level 2, The Grounded Agent: how retrieval and sourcing change trust, accuracy, and decision readiness (including how to handle conflicting information).

  • Level 3, The Action-Capable Agent: how an agent uses tools to calculate, check conditions, and take structured steps instead of “just talking” (and what transparency should look like).

  • Level 4, The Memory-Enhanced Connected Agent: how memory and external systems unlock continuity, personalization, and real-world relevance (and when memory becomes a liability).

  • Level 5, The Multi-Agent Orchestrator: how an orchestrator delegates work to specialist agents, coordinates sequencing, recovers from confusion, and produces coherent outcomes at scale.

Throughout, the workshop stays grounded in executive reality: clarity of intent, governance, control points, failure modes, and what “good” looks like when you want agents to operate safely inside an organization.

Attendees will discover

  • The key differences between a chatbot, an assistant, and an agent, and why that distinction matters commercially and operationally.

  • How to “program” agents without code by designing intent, constraints, and decision rules in plain language.

  • Practical patterns for delegation: what you can hand over today, what you should never hand over, and what needs staged autonomy.

  • Why tool use and memory create a step change in capability, plus the trust and compliance implications that come with it.

  • How multi-agent collaboration works, what typically breaks, and how orchestration and guardrails prevent chaos.

  • A leadership-ready mental model for the Agent-First Era: from managing people and processes to conducting systems of autonomous actors.

Outcome

Participants leave with more than inspiration. They leave with a working understanding of agent anatomy and configuration, a sharp sense of both power and risk, and a practical foundation to evaluate agent initiatives in their own context. In other words, they stop being spectators of the agent revolution and start thinking like orchestrators.

Fast, tactile, and deliberately executive-oriented, this workshop gives C-level leaders the one thing most AI briefings don’t: a real feel for what autonomous systems can do, and what it will take to deploy them responsibly.

Peter van Hees is a fast-paced, creative, and thought-provoking keynote speaker who helps leaders cut through the hype around Artificial Intelligence and prepare for the next great paradigm shift: the Agent-First Era. As the author of “AI Agents: They Act, You Orchestrate”, Peter is one of Europe’s leading voices on Agentic AI; where intelligent systems don’t just assist, but act.

His authority comes not from theory, but from the front lines of innovation. Peter has operated inside the nerve centers of global enterprises like Microsoft, HP, and KBC; co-founded and advised start-ups that redefined industries; and collaborated with institutions such as the European Union and NATO. Across these diverse arenas, he has seen how technology can both empower and destabilize, and he translates that hard-earned experience into pragmatic frameworks for organizations navigating transformation.

In his book and on stage, Peter challenges audiences to rethink their faith in the “Mobile-First” world and embrace the imminent shift toward autonomous, AI-driven ecosystems. His storytelling is bold, visual, and rooted in real-world experimentation... delivering clarity where most see only complexity.

Peter’s talks are not just keynotes, they are catalysts. Fast, visual, and charged with actionable insights, they empower audiences to move from spectators of change to orchestrators of the future.
